Adam Smith said in the theory of moral sentiments, quote, If the chief part of human happiness arises from the consciousness of being beloved, as I believe it does, those sudden changes of fortune seldom contribute much to happiness. There's really two parts to that quote, obviously. And then the second thing he says is that raise is not going to help you much. We are very resilient creatures and we're also kind of on the move or constantly.
