The two nerves are not only closely approximated, but that you try to lie them back in their canals when you put the two proximal and distal segments together. I tell 100% of my patients, I say if we are doing a BSSO, 100% of you will have temporary parastasia,. Temporary because we're exposing and stretching the nerve. But luckily, this doesn't happen commonly.
