Grandtack Hypothesis - Jupiter, Destroyer of Worlds, May Have Paved the Way for Earth

Jupiter's role in the inner solar system's early evolutions has been questioned. A new study argues that Jupiter briefly migrated into the newly forming solar system. It would have caused a series of cascading effects that would have smashed other early forming super earths in its wake. The current inner planets, like earth, are actually formed from debris left over after this catastrophic series of collisions causing by jupiter's inward migration.
