The World Cup and the Shadow Side of the World Cup

The World Cup has become an event that can allow large nations to present themselves to the world in various ways, be it through washing their image or getting into the top table of the world political sphere. I don't know if anyone else wants to come onto that because it feels wrong to then just jump on and talk about some of the on-pitch stuff after that. The idea of an even bigger World Cup, 48 teams, that fills me with a little bit of dread. Not sure I want to sit through that in quite the same way that I used to sit through World Cups when I was younger. It's how I feel now - there were some games I really enjoy watching but
