Introduction
The Arab Gulf states have been reliable partners of imperialism since their inception. Saudi Arabia normalized not with Israel and negotiations overseen by the US as many analysts expected, but rather made peace with Iran in talks that were facilitated by the Chinese. What's the reason for all these shifts across the Gulf? Will they continue to oppose the new Cold War? Or are they too wedded to the US to actually forge a path independent of its interests? How much wiggle room does multipolarity afford them? To discuss this and more, I'm joined by Georgio Caffeiro, the CEO of Gulfstate Analytics, a Washington DC-based geopolitical risk consultancy.
