The Importance of Not Worshiping Other Gods

David never went and worshiped false gods, which means that David never was in a position where he didn't have a place to take his sin. God can refer to David as commandment keeper extraordinaire simply because he never worshiped other gods. Therefore, he had the one true God who is a God that wants to forgive sin and iniquity. So it's out of law that God says you shall have no other gods because he actually cares about us.
