The Importance of Context in Product Design
There is an ethical component to this, which is that attractive people are more likely to be hired. They're given higher pay if you're an attractive criminal. Your punishments are less severe. And those are built in biases that I think we need to be aware of and counteract on the one hand. But then going back to the end of my talk, sort of talking about how context matters, it's not sufficient to just get that initial response. Having a reputation that's actually built on designing good products also comes into play. So I would say it's not enough to be a pretty face.
