These ideas about the problems of artificial pesticides and the need for a holistic naturalistic approach to agricultural sort of got tacked on to the environmentalist movement. And it all became into the mainstream around the 1990s, which is when we see the take-off of the organic food as a significant industry. Since then it's been growing very rapidly. I had a brief look at some of their, at parts of their original writings and was quite, well, disturbed at their attitudes towards science.
