The idea of inversion sounds very suspiciously similar to things we hear today. People used to call themselves third sexers. That's how they called gay lesbians and trans masculine and trans feminine people. Even if they sort of live largely as men or women in their regular lives, they'd be like, sure, maybe I'm intersex,. Maybe my soul or psyche is trapped in the wrong body, whatever., right?
