How to Choose the Right Maintenance Fluid for Your Patient

For pediatric patients it's 80cc per kilogram. And when we talked about transfusion, we generally consider massive transfusion at half of their total blood volume. So our most common maintenance fluids would be D5, half normal saline or 20 millicoins of potassium is our typical one. Then how about our resuscitative fluids? That's your typical your LR normal saline fluids. You can also use your colloids and plasmidates as well.
