Can This Really Be Built?

Frank Lloyd Wright wrote to Otis Elevator about his plans for a mile high skyscraper in downtown Chicago. He sent sketches and said, you know, is it feasible? And they send back a multi-page letter of which only the first two pages survive. They say yes, it's entirely possible. We have figured it out and this indeed will work, but you must take into consideration what is going to happen to the lungs and to the final passages of the passengers. The drawings are about seven feet tall.
