David Murrah joins us on against of the grain he is a Minneapolis based writer critic poet and playwright we are talking about his new book it's called The Stories Whiteness Tells itself racial myths in our American narratives. He says that white Americans both want to understand the context of black America but to a large extent they don't want to know. And so even though black people have demonstrated throughout our history a superior grasp of equality and the problems of race white America has never turned to black Americans said you know we got it wrong in every period of our history and you got it right maybe we ought to follow your lead.
