The Use of Genealogy Websites to Identify Criminals
Joseph D'Angelo has been sentenced to life in prison for the Golden State Killer case. The methods used to identify him have prompted an ethical question about the use of genealogy websites to identify criminals. Privacy experts have pointed out that most people using these sites don't expect their personal information and DNA to be accessed by law enforcement. JEDMATCH came under fire after allowing police to use its services to investigate a physical assault.
