The Dangers of Diving Into the Pool
Ben Affleck: I read a review on Goodreads where it said you daringly chose to do what we're all warned not doing when we're young, which is dive into the shallow end of the pool. The reviewer said in this case, the danger lies in his topic, men behaving badly and conjures a familiar dilemma for readers separating feelings about a book from feelings about a protagonist. So Grant and I have just been talking about likable and unlikable characters. And I wonder how you feel about that concept, that duality,. unlikability, and how they relate to creating compelling commentary on the darker sides of the character.
