Tabata Amarau is one of the youngest ever congresspeople in Brazil for a center-left political party. She grew up in a very poor neighborhood in Sao Paulo, making her way through the educational system because of her skills in math. Her personal story has given me a much deeper understanding of some of the social dynamics in Brazil and what it is like to grow up in poverty.
