The State Department Appoints a New Special Representative for Palestinian Affairs

The Biden administration is appointing a new special representative for Palestinian affairs. It marks the first time that the U.S. has created a Washington based position at the State Department solely responsible for Palestinian affairs, writes Peter Bergen. The move comes after President Donald Trump closed the U.s. consulate in Jerusalem and moved the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Like Israelis, Palestinians have the right to exist, but there are very few powerful global players willing to help them do that, says Bergen.
