The Battle of Eley

After the disaster at the supply depot, William ordered that they quote, set a day and night guard over all their property and operations. So the Norman advance was slowed, but it wasn't halted. Eley could no longer hold it off. The Normans were coming. And so on Eley, the rebels began to build fortifications and ramparts of their own. I'm guessing this was a mix of earthen ditches, dikes, and wooden walls. But finally, after a week of this, the Normans had established their marshy mound, and built four wooden towers for their siege weapons. They were, at last, ready to begin the attack.
