Nietzsche and the Risellian Man in Rousseau
Rousseau in actual fact doesn't advocate for the primitivist course, as I've mentioned. Rather, Rousseau's political theories are his attempt to find some way that the state could in the here and now become legitimate. So we see that element in Rousseau in this passage that Nietzsche perceives. Notice that he connects the Risellian man to the socialist upheavals and to revolutionary tendencies. And turns their sights instead to the horizon to something beyond their current state.
