Jonathan Keisling - The Prayer of the Afflicted (Psalms 102:1-28)
Capitol Hill Baptist Church
The Lord Disciplines Us
The world is groaning under the effects of our rebellion against God, so we shouldn't be surprised if we groan too. Every instance of suffering is an opportunity for us to plead with God and search our hearts. Repentance of sin is always appropriate when we're afflicted in such a way that we're reminded that this world is cursed by sin. When God strains providence, affliction can even curb our appetite for sin. But dear Christian, whatever you do, don't expect a particular answer for why you face the particular trial you're going through. It may come in this life, but we can't count on knowing why until the next life, until we get to heaven
