I think a common misconception I've encountered is if left to their own devices, engineers are probably working on science fiction projects. The true joy comes from the people you work with and the people for whom you're solving problems, which are users. There was this moment of recognition and pride, which I saw flash before the rise. And as I explained to the IC, not just the revenue impact of every millisecond of latency that was saved, but also the user experience in having made this change.
