The Legend of the Jersey Devil

A telegraph worker was out in the woods performing maintenance on a line deep in the barren wilderness. When he climbed up one of the poles, he spotted a massive bat like creature flying in the air. He aimed his rifle, shot it and the creature's body fell toward the ground. But when the telegraph worker went to retrieve the body, he couldn't find it anywhere. Another incident occurred when a trolley full of people and hat an heights rolled through town. They clinked their glasses together and hoped for a great night ahead. As they looked up in horror, the creature spread its wings. The passengers screamed in terror, which only angered the creature even more.
