Maternal mortality in eight European countries with enhanced surveillance systems a descriptive population based study. In Norway and Denmark they had between 2.7 and 3.4 deaths per 100,000 live births in the UK It was 9.6 only trumped by Slovakia at 10.9 as the linked editorial points out some of the discrepancy. But I don't necessarily think that means that we in general practice can ignore it. Hemorrhage Infection and preeclampsia these are almost entirely preventable problems in adequately resourced health systems.
