Michael Sherman: This is a completely separate question from are they out there somewhere? Are there extraterrestrial intelligence somewhere in the cosmos? Probably. That's why I support the SETI program. Keep listening, keep looking. Maybe possible. It would be incredible if we were alone. And it's even worse now in terms of the probability arguments than when Carl was alive. Now we have space telescopes that have detected planets around nearly every star that is examined. No matter how many contingent steps between bacteria size life and big brains like ours, it's going to happen. Happen already once we know.
