Self Determination Theory, Mastery, Autonomy and Relatedness
Self determination theory says that in order to thrive, we need three things. These are mastery, autonomy and relatedness. Many children's lives are very deficient in these psychological nutrients. If you're lacking it in the real world, you get it in the virtual world. The average child has twice as many restrictions placed upon themas an adult. They have as much restrictions as a full time military professional. Why? Because they lack in this psychological nutrient autonomy.
