What Makes an Artist?
Stephen writes. I crochet, spin and weave. Irrespective of whether i follow a pattern or not, my work is always a new thing as it's full of my mistakes and muscle interaction. My husband and i have discussed what makes an artist - initially he would not have included fibre arts in that due to the copying element. But honestly, why is taking influence from another human considered less valid than inspiration from a non human? Anyway, most religious art is fan art of religion. Same for landscapes of the natural environment and so on. And then all of a sudden we have the super unique piece of art that everyone's in love with.
