China's Economic Relationship With Iran

Bonya: Some observers have argued that China's stronger ties with Saudi Arabia will reduce Beijing's need to cultivate a deeper partnership with Iran. Bonya: I think part of the reason was that the Gulf countries, the GCC countries, our US allies are partners and Iran is kind of a revisionist power That threatens them and rejects US leadership in the region. It just didn't make any sense to me. The Iranians noted this better than anybody.
