The Differences Between Abu-Lafia and Ibn Adret in Kabbalah

The two Kabbalists disagreed on several points. Abu-Lafia claimed to be the Messiah, whereas ibn Adret claimed that he wasn't. Through such ritualistic practices, the mystic could facilitate a union, or cleaving, together with God. One of his favorite themes is the opposition between our intellect and our imagination.
