The Explosion of Words in Early Modern Philosophy

In your introduction you catalog an abundance of early modern terms, words used to name the unknowable. I think it speaks firstly to the plasticity of language in the era, that the English language isn't fixed. When a new philosophical, theological, scientific area comes up, the capillary needs to be invented from scratch. This is an era when the passelling out of disciplinary spheres is not given. There's a sense in which the writers reel and lurch across,. borrowed for capillaries, across theological and scientific vocabularies.
