But then when this thing happens, then they'll know what his name is. Obviously, that doesn't make sense. Right? It's, then you will know that I am the one who causes things to be. When you see this happen. So like in Ezekiel, this is one of the places with the dry bones. Right? The value of the dry bones that we read on Holy Saturday, right? Where he says, then you will know that I am Yahweh Israel. When I empty your tombs, when I raise you from the dead, then you will know that I am the one who causes things to be. Right. And so what's God talking about here? When he says this to Moses? He's saying, I appeared to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. I appeared to them when they were in Canaan. I told them I was going to give them this land, but they didn't see me do it. Right? I told them they were going to have all these descendants more in number than the sands of the sea, but they didn't live to see that. He's saying, Moses, you are about to see me. Do it. You are about to see me fulfill those promises. And when you and the people of Israel, when I bring you out of Egypt, when I bring you through the wilderness, when I bring you into the land that I promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and give it to you, then you'll know that I'm the one who causes things to be. Right. Who created this nation that wasn't a nation. Right. And brought it to this land and did these things. Right? So that's what he's getting at here with this. It's not, oh, now you will have heard this name. Right? Like Moses used it in front of Pharaoh. Right? It's, then you'll really know what this means. Right. Then you will know who I am. Because of what you have seen me do. Right. So these things that were just promises to your forefathers are now about to become reality. Right. In your in your sight. Verse five. I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage. And I remembered my covenant. So again, it is not that he forgot, right? It's not that he forgot. This is why every time somebody comes to me and says, oh, I think you need to read the Bible like really literally. I'm I don't think you do because that's reading it kind of dumbly sometimes right this isn't that God for oh yeah I made that covenant with Abraham I forgot I guess I better deliver them from Egypt right this is God saying now now is the time I know how the people have been suffering. And I know that I made these promises. And so now is the time when this is going to happen. Therefore say to the children of Israel, I am the Lord. I will bring you out from under the Egyptian tyranny. I will rescue you from their bondage and redeem you with an outstretched arm and great judgments. Notice the arm again, right? Who really has the powerful arm? God, right? Not Ray, right? Yahweh, the God of Israel. I will take you as my people and be your God. Then you shall know I am the Lord your God. Then you will know that I am Yahweh your God when I do this, who brought you out from under the Egyptian tyranny. I will also bring you into the land I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you as a heritage. I am the Lord. So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel, but they pay no heed to Moses because of their faint heartedness and cruel bondage. Faint heartedness, right? They're exhausted. They're exhaustion. Right? So they hear what Moses is saying, but when the next day you've got to make a brick quota or get beaten within an inch of your life. Right? It's like, okay, Moses, right? Like, but I need to try and get a couple hours of sleep. Then the Lord spoke to Moses saying, go in, tell Pharaoh, king of Egypt to send forth the children of Israel from his land. Moses then spoke before the Lord saying, the children of Israel have no heed to me.
