The myth of the story of the iron lady is born. In 1978 Thatcher wins the general election and becomes prime minister. But early in her premiership, quite a shocking spy scandal breaks. It emerges that a man called Anthony Blount had been part of a spy ring. She stands up in parliament and denounces this kind of betrayal. The backbenchers agree to call off the hump and things carry on.
