Is There a Utopian Projection of Other Cultures?

The main appeal of other cultures to me is just that they're less like sexual liberal, right? And I think in my opinion, that's a plus. But back in the day that wasn't necessarily the case. So it was hugely overblown and incredibly romanticized one-dimensional portrait of these immigrant groups by modernist intellectuals.
