Jackson Jackson was a student of gordon lish's at columbia. When he moved to new york, he applied for the fiction workshop run by Lish and got in. He says that after his first novel came out, Gordan abandoned him but then started working with him on short stories. "He took an interest in me and started cultivating thand word," writes Jackson.
