Genomes are the tools that can help us inform different aspects of what has been happening. The major threats to these species involve habitat loss, bi-catch and fisheries. These are tools, but they need to be used in concert with traditional conservation measures. If we change the way that we treat nature then genomics is going to help us really recover the populations.
