Roland Martin: Political scientists have been using a racial resentment scale to measure racism. He says it's not very helpful, and people who score higher on the scale are more likely to vote for Republican candidates like Donald Trump. But political science is something interestingly different about it than economics, he says. Martin: People aren't that interested in the views of political scientists.

Jason Furman is a professor of economics in the Economics Department at Harvard and at the Harvard Kennedy School. He also served as the chair of the Council of Economic Advisers under President Barack Obama.
