Participants who were encouraged to actively seek out discomfort did indeed spend more time holding on to focus, anywhere from like almost one and a half seconds to six seconds longer. These seeking dis fort participants were also more likely to take risks than those in the control group. Plus, the seek and discomfort participants also seemed to feel like they accomplished more in the exercise.
