Anthony Hopkins tries to sell small painted figurines on a website. He accidentally hasn't managed to get the website up online and he doesn't know that. The director just for those scenes where he needed to really channel it would spit into his face. That blood curdling sort of chill is because he's thinking he's child, how angry. It was actually how he got performance in science of the lambs.
