I have always noticed that real sages never gossip, never criticise persons and because they understand so well. And if you praise somebody, there is also likely nothing to be said except perhaps some remark that of course you are praising the beloved in all its manifestations. This disconcerts some people terribly. With French saying, too complex, too palgoné, to understand all is to forgive all - this is so true if you are experienced in just the ordinary way of dealing with human problems. If you have been a counsellor or psychotherapist or minister or anything like that, you very soon get to realise how vastly complicated people are. You need to see that they really are
