The Importance of Clearing the C Spine Collar
If there are no signs of trauma anywhere above the clavicle, they are GCS 15 and they have no neck pain. Neck pain for me is a global injury. So it's any pain basically from the level of their scapulae all the way up to their occiput. The C spine collar puts older adults at higher risk for developing pressure ulcers. And then that on top of the immobilization really adds to that risk. Dr. Wong: Can we develop processes where we can expedite that decision about whether or not someone needs a collar?
