Is It OK to Have Non Running Related Goals?

Most runners experience at least one running related injury per year, whether very minor o allway to very major injuries. If a person is experiencing a recurring pattern of injuries, i would urge them to reevaluate the type of training that they're doing and what their goals are. But for me, like your race specific training should not always result in overuse injuries.
