In the early 19 hundreds, there er, there were women in ireland that were undergoing these hunger strikes. The first i remember to do it was james connolly, who went on hunger strike in 19 13 and was actually released from prison as a result. And then a few years later, a the case of thomas ashe drew national, i think, maybe even international attention, because he went on hungerstrike, and they accidentally killed him when they tried to force feed him.
