Faith is the courage to take risks, writes Rabbi Hittaleh Lafanae. The rebel lived what he taught and sent emissaries out to virtually every place on earth where there were Jews. He knew he was asking his followers to take risks by going to places where the whole environment would be challenging in many ways. It's challenging to leave the desert and go out into the world with all its trials and temptations but that is where God wants us to be.
