The Death of a Gambler
Chris Moneymaker's legs were bound and there were significant visible injuries, including shoe marks on his head. Officers initially suspected that the cause of death may well have been that he drowned in his own blood. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that thecause of death was actually neck and chest injuries. Friends paid tribute to a born gambler who grew up in Bethmore Green, playing cards in the cray twins illicit gambling dens. He could turn a tenor into £100,000 and then lose it just as quickly. It wasn't about the money, it was a thrill of gambling, he was fearless.
