The Advantages and Disadvantages of Video Laryngoscopy
Video laryngoscopy is a great backup. It has studies have shown generally a higher success rate. You can help avoid esophageal intubation because you are directly seeing the cords. The European approach is to be much more liberal with the use of LMA's even for prone and lateral cases. In most places in the United States we tend to not use LMA's for those situations but they certainly can be done.
