The Art of Fugue: A Simple Fugue
Bach's first fugue is called a simple fugue which means that it is a fugue on a single subject. As we'll see as we get more and more involved into this world of the art of fugue there will be fugues with two subjects, three subjects and even finally four subjects. Bach himself was just completely transfixed with the direction that music was moving in. He among musicians of his era was the most modern, constantly striving to be on the cutting edge of what was happening in music. And he was so ahead of the curve.
