The Fertile Crescent
Recent discoveries suggest South Asia was an independent center of plant domestication. The fertile crescent, if we remember backaways, was where the Neolithic and farming was born. That's where wheat, barley, peas, lentils, sheep, goats, and cattle were all domesticated. Those domesticates formed the subsistence basis for thousands of years of agricultural societies. They continue to feed billions of people today.
