Red Pill by Hari Kunzru is a book about a writer Dan who is stressed out by American politics. He decides to accept a position at a Berlin writer's residency thinking he will get away to Germany. This will be the escape he desperately needs but instead it's like stepping off a cliff for him. And weirdly in time the narrator, the unnamed Brooklyn writer, crosses past with the creator of this cop show he's been binge watching and tries to figure out more about the man behind the show. So this is bizarre and weird and dark and unsettling which those adjectives are going to send some readers running as well.
