What Is the Difference Between Cyrus and Pharaoh?
There is a glaring problem in that the numbers don't add up. The enumerate items of verses nine and ten totaled to two thousand 499, whereas the total given in verse 11 is five thousand 400. Other possible solutions have been proposed, but we may not be able to determine the correct one with any degree of certainty. A question to consider comparing and contrasting the figure of cyrus in this exodus with the figure of pharaoh in the first what might we learn concerning the lord's purposes for the relationship between gentile rulers and his people?
