Darwinism
Darwinism is not really talking about what we would call consciousness so much. He was with the idea that life has emerged naturally some kind of natural process, and that it evolves and develops over time. Some may adopt a more physicalistic or materialistic view of consciousness. But they will also neverthelessag that whatever we call this thing life, it is fully dependent on materiality in some way. And if once the brain and body stop working, then there's that thing that we life ends permanently. It doesn't ever come back.
