The Origins of House Limiting in Magic
In magic when you're playing sealed deck or even a draft, you end up with this collection of cards. You choose which subset you're going to play and the remainder is your side board. So there was a lot of pressure to put a side board in key forge because so many people wanted that taste of construction. And I did entertain it but I resisted this idea of putting in the side board in part because it undermines the variety in the decks. But during playtest we began to realize that this house choosing mechanic in a lot of ways was like dynamic side boarding. If you have a card and you dump it, it's very inexpensive.
