CHAPTER

Petricia - A Socialist and a Pacifist?

A lot of scientists at that time had quite left wingd leanings iming. Petricia went to russia with in 19 53 because america had refused her a visa to go to a protein conference in california. And she found it rather frustrating that they seemed to be just taken to lots of big bank banquets and drink an awf al lot of vodka, and didn't see as much science as they would have liked. i think a lot of people of her generation felt very strongly that the whole point of science was that it should be useful,. It should improve society, and it should improve people's lives.
